Anthony Lauer Obituary, Death – On Wednesday, November 30, Anthony Raymond Lauer APM passed away at the age of 86. Prior to his resignation from the position of Commissioner, he had served in that capacity for a period of time before taking early retirement. Prior to his retirement, he had served in that capacity in the past. In April of 1955, he submitted his application to become a member of the organization. Beginning in March 1991 and continuing until he retired in January 1996, he served as Commissioner after having been appointed to that position.
It was in April of 1955 when he officially became a member of the group. During his forty years of service, now-retired Commissioner Lauer was responsible for a wide variety of tasks in criminal investigations, in addition to more mundane responsibilities, such as working as a traffic patrol cyclist. He also served in this capacity for a significant portion of his career. He had a total of eighteen years of service in this position before being compelled to resign for health reasons.
His professional expertise covered the entirety of the department in all of its facets. He held the positions of Chief Superintendent in Charge of the Criminal Investigation Branch, Assistant Commissioner for Professional Responsibility, and Deputy Commissioner of the agency prior to being considered for the position of Commissioner in March of 1991. During this time, he was also under consideration for the position of Commissioner. He was put forth for consideration for the role of Commissioner.
He attended the University of Sydney, the Australian Police Staff College in Manly, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Academy in Quantico, which is in the city of Virginia in the United States. All three of these institutions are located in the state of Virginia. After graduating from all three universities, he then went on to earn degrees in each of their various fields of study.
