David Jones Death, Obituary – We must share the tragic news with you that Life Member David Jones has passed away, and we do so with heavy hearts. This is an announcement that we are making with a heavy heart and a profound sense of regret. Since the month of October 1991, when Dave first joined the Latham Fire Department, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the department by being an active and involved member. Over the course of twenty years, he has been employed by the division. When Dave had some spare time, his go-to hobby was watching football. This was in addition to spending time with the people he cared about, as well as his friends and acquaintances.
Dave’s career as a train worker with Canadian Pacific Railroad not only allowed him to derive a great deal of personal fulfillment but also allowed him to be actively involved in the community in a wide range of activities. Dave held a variety of positions within the organization, including that of trustee, director, member at large, and even lieutenant, amongst others. In each of these capacities, he served as a member of the department’s staff. One of Dave’s favorite things to do with the fire department was to take part in an event that was called “Santa in the District.” This event gave a lot of the children who lived in the area a lot of reasons to smile and a lot of memories to remember.
Dave enjoyed taking part in this event very much. Dave was also known for riding EMS-4, which was extensively recognized as our first responder automobile, for a number of years, and as a result, he gained the nickname “EMS Jones” from everyone who knew him. This nickname originated from the fact that EMS-4 was widely known as our first responder car. At this time, we are keeping everyone who knew Dave, including his family, friends, and coworkers, as well as anybody else who knew him, in our thoughts and prayers. This includes anyone else who knew Dave. I would want to make a plea that you keep these in mind when you are considering them alongside your own. Dave, you should feel free to be assured that we will handle everything going forward and that we will take care of it all.
