(LEX 18) — Following a shooting that took place late on Thursday night, one man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The man was identified as Ethan Boler Hatfield, who was 26 years old, by the Coroner of Fayette County. It is well known that he is the son of successful local businessman Rod Hatfield, whose name is associated with a number of local automobile dealerships.
The police have not commented on who they believe fired the shot. It was just after 11:30 on Thursday night when officers from the Lexington Police Department responded to a call that was made to a private property located on the 4900 block of McAtee Lane. Hatfield and a 22-year-old woman, who the police have not been able to identify, were both found to have gunshot wounds when the police arrived on the scene. On the spot, a death verdict was issued for Hatfield. The woman was hurt, so she was taken to the hospital as quickly as possible to get treatment for her wounds.
A criminal offense was committed in the year 2017 at the same house on McAtee Lane. In that particular case, Ethan Hatfield was found guilty of kidnapping, robbing, and assaulting three other men who were involved in the incident. The men intended to bring substantial quantities of marijuana from Colorado to sell in Lexington, and they had plans to do so. Inside the mansion valued at $2.5 million, all four of the suspects were accused of robbing and beating an individual suspected of being a drug courier against his will.
A judge in the Fayette County Circuit Court placed Hatfield and the others on probation with the condition that they must complete shock therapy.
