John Sims Obituary, Death – When I woke up this morning, I was shocked to read that the artist and mathematician John Sims had been found dead in Florida, not far from where he had his art studio. I was grieved by this news. I want everyone of you who knew and loved him to know that I am sending you the warmest hugs and most sincere blessings. Maintaining vigilance for any new updates that may be forthcoming. It’s a shame that his close friends don’t seem to be aware of the details of his passing just yet. He has a close friendship with Dragonfly Diva, Savitri, and Reverend Bill Talen, all of whom are also teammates on the same squad. Please keep us informed if there is anything more you discover.
Not so long ago, Beth and I went to see an art exhibition in San Francisco that was organized by John Sims. There, we were lucky enough to find John. Along with Guillermo Gomez Pena and Balitronica, we showed up to his opening and offered him our congratulations and support there. He was well-known for his groundbreaking work in the field of anti-racism as well as his design of the Afro-Dixie flag. His artwork has been displayed in renowned museums throughout the world. A few years ago, Beth and I threw John an engagement party while he was in the middle of executing a performance art wedding. John was playing the role of a priest and was marrying a Confederate soldier to a Union soldier during this event.
At the celebration, the toast was made using champagne that was supplied in Dixie cups (!). (In curator Tessa Wills art event). It breaks my heart to say this, but John still has a lot of life ahead of him and a bright future to look forward to. His contribution, including his voice, was crucial at this juncture. I have the deepest and most sincere wish that he died of natural causes. This makes me feel like the absolute worst. Lost much too soon. Damn it.
In today’s world, death is an unavoidable part of everyday life.
