During the time that she worked with Neighborhood Living Options, Marilyn also did social work in a number of the group homes that are dispersed around the community. She had been a member of the Murrayville United Methodist Church for a significant amount of time prior to moving to the area later in life, at which point she started attending the Central Christian Church in Jacksonville. Previously, she had attended services at the Murrayville United Methodist Church. When she was a young girl, she attended services at the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. After some time had passed, she became a member of the Murrayville United Methodist Church. One of her most cherished ways to pass the time was to engage in various types of handicrafting, including quilting, flower arrangement, and other similar activities.
