Aidan Corkery Death, Obituary – It is with deep sorrow that we must inform you of the following tragic news regarding the demise of a kind and compassionate spirit that was loved by many people in Longford and other places. It has come to our attention that Mr. Aidan Corkery, of Ballymakeegan, Longford Town, Longford, has passed away. The staff and management of The Longford Eye would like to offer their heartfelt condolences to the deceased person’s family and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh an n-anamacha, or “May Their Soul Rest in Peace,” is an Irish expression. It was Aidan Corkery. Ballymakeegan, Longford Town, and Longford are located in Longford. Aidan passed away quietly in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his devoted family. His parents, Patrick and Catherine, his sisters Molly, Kathleen, Celine, Veronica, and Lily-Mae, his brothers Fr. John, Simon, and Patrick, and other members of his extended family all passed away before him. Aidan will be remembered with affection by his family, including his devoted wife Catherine, sons Stephen, Peter, and Andrew, daughters-in-law Polly and Jo, much-loved grandchildren Eoghan, Tom, Cat, Rosie, Issy, and Conor, sisters Phil Gerety and Angela Shanley, brothers Michael, Nelius, Fr. Eamonn, and Oliver, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends I pray that he finds eternal rest.
Prayers will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Glennon’s Funeral Home on Ballinalee Road, where the viewing will begin at 6:00 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at St. Mel’s Cathedral, and the interment will take place after the service in Ballymacormack Cemetery. Please only send flowers to the family. Please keep the house in private.
