Barbara Palmer Death, Obituary – This week, we learned that Barbara Palmer will be departing the company, and the news has filled our hearts with sadness. We will miss her tremendously. After holding a seat on the New Romney Town Council for a number of years, Barbara won the election for the position of Mayor of New Romney in 2001 and continued to serve in that capacity until the end of her term in 2004. She was highly involved in the community both during and after her time on the Council, taking part in a varied variety of the many different events and organizations that are available in the town.
Both during and after her tenure on the Council, she was a very active member of the community. She was a staunch supporter of a wide variety of causes across the board. It is without a doubt that the news of her passing will cause heartbreaking grief to a big number of different people. During this difficult time, we want her family to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers, and we want them to know that we are thinking about them. As a sign of respect, the Cinque Ports flag has been flown at half-mast atop the Town Hall both yesterday and today, as well as on the day of the funeral itself.
In addition, the flag will remain at half-mast until the day after the funeral. Because a member of the Cinque Ports community had recently passed away, this was done as a mark of respect.
