Jill Mandeno Obituary, Death – To the family of Jill Mandeno, a woman who has contributed so much to the organized sport of fly fishing across the world, and particularly to the Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships, we extend our sincere condolences. Jill was a pioneer in the sport. Many of our representative anglers have had the pleasure of knowing Jill and witnessing firsthand the passion with which she approaches the sport.
Jill Mandeno, a prominent figure in the world of sport fly fishing, passed away today, and it is with a heavy heart that we must inform you of this news. Jill was one of the original members of the fly fishing sport in New Zealand, and she has been very active in FIPS-Mouche activities for many years. She was also considered to be a senior advisor on the FIPS-Mouche Board, and she has actively participated in FIPS-Mouche competitions as the captain and manager of the New Zealand national team.
In addition, she served as a delegate for SFFNZ at a number of CIPS and FIPS congresses, always maintaining a firm concentration on the importance of transparency, clarity, and fairness in our sport. At this most trying time, we would like to extend our most sincere condolences to Jill’s family and friends on behalf of the fly fishing community as a whole. We would want to express our gratitude to you, Jill, for all of the hard work you have put into FIPS-Mouche. She will be greatly missed by all of us.
