Keshawna Alderman Death, Obituary – Ms. Keshawna Alderman, a law student who was in her second year of school when she passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, was in her second year of school. We are deeply sorry to have to inform you of her loss and share the news that she has passed away with you at this time. Keshawna, who was born and raised in the Harlem district of New York City, was working toward receiving both a Juris Doctor degree and a Law and Technology Certificate at the same time. Harlem was Keshawna’s home neighborhood. The laws pertaining to intellectual property, trademarks, and entertainment all piqued her curiosity to a greater extent than the others.
Her activism on behalf of people of color and the work she did to expand the amount of professional opportunities open to people of color in the legal sector were two of the most important things to her. The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the Black Law Student Association, and the Intellectual Property Law Society were just a few of the organizations that Keshawna was a member of throughout her time spent participating in a wide variety of activities and organizations. She was a student who was engaged not only on campus but also in the community that she lived in, so her involvement was not limited to the school.
During this horrible time, I want you to be aware that the university has resources available to you, and you are free to use those resources in any way that you believe will be most helpful to you. I want you to know this because I care about you. Students who are interested in speaking with a counselor are highly urged to phone the NCCU Counseling Center at the number 919-530-7646, which is a number that can be reached at any time of the day or night. The NCCU Counseling Center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You may find the ComPsych guidance tools on the institution’s HR page, which is also where they are made accessible for usage by the institution’s employees and faculty members.
The members of the campus community who are now present will be kept informed as soon as any new information regarding Keshawna’s funeral arrangements becomes available, including any and all updates. Those who are currently in attendance will receive this information. In this trying time, we ask that you remember Ms. Keshawna Alderman’s loved ones, particularly her family, friends, teachers, and classmates, in your thoughts and prayers. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
