Mark Pitts Death, Obituary – Yesterday, a tragic accident resulted in the passing of our good friend Mark Pitts. It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you of this news. Many people still referred to Mark as “Mark the Fireman,” despite the fact that he had been out of the firefighting industry for a few years at that point. He wasn’t very well-known, and he wasn’t very active on social media, but he was a huge music fan, and he was always willing to help out local musicians. I’ve lost count of how many Wire gigs he’s been to, but the band has played on at least three different continents throughout the course of their career.
He was one of those people who “got it” in a way that many other people who are much more knowledgeable would never be able to do. He was one of those people who “got it” in a way that many other people got it. His belly laugh was infectious, and music had been his passion for his whole life. Not only did he go to a significant number of concerts by Wire, but he was also there at a significant number of Githead shows, as well as shows by Malka Spigel and Maya Newman, Immersion, and even Minimal Compact. He was a big fan of all of these artists. It is challenging to consider playing gigs when you are aware that he will not be there to watch you perform them.
Both Trevor Pateman and Ian Marsh deserve a lot of credit for keeping us informed and providing the photo, which, by the way, was taken by Ian Marsh during a trip to Portugal in 2018 that was one of the most exciting experiences of his life. Mark, we are going to miss having you around.
