Mossie Murphy Obituary, Death – Mrs. Mossie Marie Murphy, age 76, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Lexington. She was married to Thomas E. Murphy, Jr. for a total of sixty years. She was the daughter of Wallace Lewis, who passed away in 1937, and Sarah Hearn Lewis, who was born on February 22, 1937. She worked her way up through the ranks at the V.R. Wesson Fansteel in Lexington and eventually retired there. Yard sales were one of her favorite things to do, and she was a member of the Elm Fork Christian Church.
Other survivors, in addition to her husband, include the following: one son: Gary Murphy of Lexington, who is married to Donna; five daughters: Carolyn Simpson of Lexington, Alma Murphy of Nicholasville, Kathy Riley of Nicholasville, Myra Dison of Versailles, and Rhonda McClure of Nicholasville; two brothers: David and Charles Lewis; eleven grandchildren: Brian Power, Sean Simpson, Cara Colemire, Tamara Murphy, Shannon Ray, Phillip Collins, Gary Murphy, Jr., Josh Murphy, Grant McClure, Jordan McClure, and Kayla McClure; and twelve
Funeral services will be held at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 1 p.m., and Brother Bill Dayton will preside over the ceremony. The interment will take place at Spring Hill Cemetery, with Mike Ray, Sean Simpson, Brian Power, Grant McClure, Jordan McClure, and Christopher Simpson serving as pallbearers, and Dustin Collins and Phillip Collins serving as honorary pallbearers. Dustin and Phillip Collins will also serve as honorary pallbearers. Both of her siblings, a brother named Kester Earl Lewis and a sister named Hazel Lewis Brumback, passed away before she did.
