Mudd Nelson Death, Obituary – The Big Easy Brass Band was established by our dearly loved brother Duane “Mudd” Nelson, who also acted as the namesake of the band. Duane “Mudd” Nelson was also the person who gave the band its name. Those who were fortunate enough to have known him remember him with a great degree of fondness and affection. As our hearts are filled to the brim with a great amount of sorrow, we are passing on the news of his departure…. During this trying time, we ask that you remember his wife, their children, the rest of his family, and all of his friends in your thoughts and prayers.
We know that they could use your support more than ever. Our hearts go out to them in this time of sorrow. The news of his departure has left us in a state of profound melancholy. In addition, we ask that you pray for the other members of his family as well as his friends during this difficult time. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. His mother, Rosetta Mudd, who resides in Bardstown; his four sisters, Charlotte (Tony) Hagan, Sandra (Rick) Mattingly, Denise (George) Terrell, and Audrey (Gary) Albertson, who all reside in Bardstown; and his four brothers. All eight of his family members live in the same city.
Only his mother lives in Bardstown at this time, making it the only member of his family to do so. He is survived by his wife, Gina Thompson Mudd, one daughter, Alex Mudd (and her husband Austin Shirley), all of Knoxville, Tennessee; one son, Daniel Mudd (and his wife Jordan), all of Knoxville, Tennessee; and one grandson, Daniel Mudd, all of Knoxville, Tennessee. His grandson’s name is also Daniel Mudd. His grandson, who also bears the name Daniel Mudd, is named after him.
