Ronald Tanne Death, Obituary – On December 8, 2012, at the age of 69, Ronald Lynn Tanner made the transition to his next life while his family stood by his side. The day of his passing was Thursday. His parents were William and Mary (Mandrell) Tanner, and he was born on August 18th, 1953 in the city of Alton, in the state of Illinois. Ron and Mary Stifel were married in Alton on December 27th, 1975, and she is still living and well today. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Ron began his professional life by working in the advertising departments of the Post-Dispatch and several other newspapers in the Midwest.
He spent the rest of his career concentrating on the expansion and marketing of small enterprises, and it was at this period that he made a significant number of connections within the Riverbend community. He was a devoted promoter of our neighborhood and was never at a loss for creative ideas that would make it even more appealing to potential residents. In addition to the game of golf, going camping, and exploring the beautiful country in which we live, Ron’s favorite sports teams included the Cardinals and the Blues. His gorgeous baritone voice, which he used to sing at weddings, funerals, in the theater, and with the wonderful choirs at St. Ambrose and St. Peter & Paul, was his greatest ability in life.
He sang at weddings, funerals, in the theater, and with those choirs. Throughout his entire life, he gave this gift to a great number of different people. He was blessed with a wonderful extended family as well as a large number of friends, all of whom adored him and were loved by him in return. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother Mary E. Tanner and step-father Glen Nicholson; three children Ellen Tanner (Kevin Bowman), Alex Tanner (Melanie Miller), and Riley Tanner (Ashley Baugh); one grandchild Della Tanner; and five bonus grandchildren Olivia Miller, Maya Miller, Alex Bowman, Annabelle Bowman, and Lane Bowman; his sister Cheri Wigger (Bob), who lives in Des Moines.
The death of Ron’s father occurred prior to Ron’s birth. The research community has been given permission to do autopsies on Ron’s body in the vain expectation that one day a cure for neurodegenerative diseases would be found. During the past four years, Ron has been aided by a multitude of therapists and carers, and we would want to express our appreciation to each and every one of them. At this time, the North Alton-Godfrey Business Council is taking donations in the form of memory gifts. The gathering will take place somewhere around the middle of January 2023, and further details will be provided later.
