Shilpesh P. Patel Death, Obituary – Following the news of the demise of Shilpesh P. Patel, M.D., a longtime member of the Richmond County Internal Medicine community, the medical community in Richmond County is in a state of mourning. Dr. Patel passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2022, as a result of complications brought on by an unanticipated cardiac ailment. Following more than 22 years of dedicated service to the people of Richmond County, Dr. Patel joined the team at Richmond Internal Medicine & Cardiology Associates in the year 2000. Dr. Patel specializes in internal medicine and cardiology.
In the years 1997 to 2000, he ran his medical business out of the town of Benson, which is situated in the state of North Carolina. Christy Land, MSN, RN, who is the administrator of Moore Regional Hospital in Richmond as well as the president of the Southern Region for FirstHealth, referred to Dr. Patel as “a kind and kind physician and colleague.” She referred to Dr. Patel as a colleague and friend, describing him as warm and caring. He was dedicated to truly getting to know each patient, and he spent the amount of time necessary to do so with each of them. At spite of the fact that he was one of the few community providers who continued to make rounds in the medical center, he was also one of the very last.
Walking the halls of the medical institution was something he did every day, both in the morning before clinic and in the afternoon after clinic. It was abundantly evident that he had a genuine concern for each and every one of the patients he saw in his medical practice. The fact that Dr. Patel’s father was a physician in India who specialized in internal medicine was a significant factor in the decision that led Dr. Patel to seek a career in the medical field. After graduating from Bangalore Medical College with his medical degree, he went on to do his internship and residency in internal medicine at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Rutgers Health.
