Smith Joan Death, Obituary – Joan Smith, please. unexpectedly and peacefully left this world on December 13, 2022, at the age of 82, while residing in the comfort of her own home. On June 4, 1960, she tied the knot with the man who would later become her late husband, Harold Smith, and the two of them had a profound love for one another. Beloved mother of Bonnie Smith McLaren, whose husband is originally from Tavistock, Scott Smith Smith, who was born and raised in Atwood, and Brad Smith Smith, who was married to Mary and settled in Goderich with her.
A cherished grandmother of Curtis (Alyssa), Jillian (Cody), Jennifer (Bryan), Carolyn (Winston), Katelyn (Nic), Greg (Erin), Corie, and Jordan, as well as a great-grandmother of Lucas, Miya, Zachary, Dominic, Grace, Lilly, Nolan, Ellie, Malcolm, and Lennon. Allen and Elizabeth Monteith had both departed away prior to the birth of their daughter.
Because Joan was a member of Calvary United Church, she was quite involved in the community while she lived in Listowel. Joan’s passion for music ran deep, and she sang in a number of church choirs in addition to being a member of the gospel quartet. Throughout her entire life, she was an active member of the United Country Women, a leader for the 4-H club, and a participant in the Stratford and Listowel Junior Farmers. In addition, she was a dedicated leader for the 4-H club. In addition to this, Joan was well-known for the work that she did as a homemaker for the Red Cross. Friends and family are welcome to pay your respects at the Brenneman Funeral Home on Monday, December 19, 2022 between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
The funeral home is situated at 141 John Street in Atwood. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 20 at 11 AM at Calvary United Church in Listowel. Following the service, the interment will take place in Elma Centre Cemetery. The family would be grateful to everyone who complies with their request that everyone who attends the viewing and service wear masks, as they have requested that everyone do so at their request. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation, the Stratford Perth Hospice Foundation, Operation Smile, or the Calvary United Church in Listowel.
