Aiden Middendorf Obituary, Death – Grieve not… nor get yourself to cry when discussing me… but make fun of me and talk about me as if I were right there with you. It felt like heaven to be with you all since I loved all of you so much. On March 2, 2022, at the age of 75, Laurence R. Middendorf died away in his house in a calm and serene manner. He is finally reunited with Elaine, the woman who was the love of his life. Larry was the son of Mark Anthony Middendorf, who passed away, and Rosemary Rita (Hickey) Middendorf, who was born on January 26, 1947 in Binghamton, New York.
He was a proud member of the Vestal High School class of 1964 and served his country with honor in the reserves after graduating high school. Larry, a man who was committed to his profession and put in a lot of effort every day, was employed by the Operators Engineers Union as a heavy machine operator. Spending time in his garden, going for drives in the countryside with Elaine, and participating in car events and parades were all activities that Larry enjoyed doing with his 1993 Mustang. Larry had a natural talent for “telling stories,” and he looked forward to nothing more than kicking back in his recliner and watching Gunsmoke. He will be remembered for this.
His children, Donald Middendorf, Scott Middendorf (Shelley), Timothy Middendorf (Amber), and Leann Middendorf (Jason), will miss him very much. His treasured grandchildren included Adam (Conner), Alexandra (Caleb), Avery, Annalyse, Ashlyn, Aidan, Skylar, Shyanne, Aubrey, Autumn, Grant, and Alice; he also had a great grandson named Brody. He cherished and enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren.
His sister, Joan Middendorf; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Thomas (Debbe) Markle, Judy Markle, and Linda Markle Crampton; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and his sister, Joan Middendorf. We are extremely grateful to the compassionate staff and nurses at Robert Packer Hospital and Dialysis Unit for the love and care that they provided for our father during the course of his life at Robert Packer Hospital and Dialysis Unit.
Larry’s family members who before him in death include his parents, his devoted wife Elaine, an infant brother and sister, and a sibling named Daniel Middendorf. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 4 pm until 7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, which is located at 273 South Main Street in Nichols. Family and friends are welcome to attend. After the viewing, at seven o’clock, there will be a memorial ceremony and a celebration of Larry’s life, with Pastor Larry Jennings officiating. St. Thomas Cemetery in Little Meadows will be the location for the interment of Larry and Elaine’s remains at a later time.
