Gerry McLaughlin Death, Obituary – The members of the Burleigh Bears Juniors would like to convey our deepest condolences to Gerry McLaughlin’s many friends and families upon informing them of his demise that occurred during the night of December 15, 2022. Gerry He began his service at the club as a volunteer around the year 1998 and has since assisted in every aspect of its operation, from sweeping floors and collecting trash to serving on the club’s committee and managing his grandson’s sports team. Gerry worked side by side with his late wife, Faye, at the company canteen for a number of years.
Gerry was a Life member of the organization, and up until very recently, he continued to be an active member, right up until the point where we had to tell him it was time to retire. Gerry has been an invaluable source of information over the years, and more recently, he has managed the bar on game days and training days for a number of years. Gerry is well-liked by all of the families and the children, and he has received many accolades over the course of his years spent working at the club. These accolades include having the verandah named after him (because it was a place where he enjoyed watching football while having a drink in peace),
as well as having his very own bar stool, which allowed him to sit and watch episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful on training afternoons in between serving the children and their parents.
Everyone who knew and worked with Gerry at the club will mourn his passing very deeply. His family, the Burleigh Bears Juniors, and the club as a whole have suffered the loss of a remarkable man, guide, and friend who will never be forgotten.
