Sven Greiner Obituary, Death – It is with a heavy heart that I learned of the demise of DJ Shog Official. Growing up, Sven was a significant figure in my life, and it has been an incredible honor for me that he has supported my music throughout the years and included it on compilation CDs for his Dream Dance series. In 1976, Sven Greiner, better known by his stage name DJ Shog, was born in Hamburg, Germany. In the middle of the nineties, he started to acquire an interest in electronic music and deejaying, which eventually led to him becoming a DJ. Following the customary beginnings as a DJ at school and private parties, DJ Shog participated in a number of DJ competitions, which led to his first residency contracts in the northern region of Germany.
The release of the first volume of his self-titled double-cd compilation series, “Technics-DJ-Set,” marked his entrance onto the music industry on a global scale. As a result, he mixed one of the CDs himself, while the other CD was mixed by a number of well-known guests, including Cosmic Gate, Dumonde, Talla 2XLC, Green Court, and many others.
This series is now up to its 14th edition, and it brings with it something wholly novel. Both of DJ Shog’s CDs feature his own original mixes. The explanation for this might be found in the multifaceted nature of his musical inventiveness. The “DJ Shog face” displays a sound that is more oriented toward the mainstream of trance and hardtrance, but the “2Faces face” moves more in the direction of progressive trance.
The mix CD “Trance Visions” that was released in the summer of 2004 previously featured these two DJs. On CD1, he delivered what is known as the Main-Floor, and on CD2, he offered what is known as the Trance-Floor. It was the first time that an official 2Faces mix was made available to the public for his single “Running Water.” This mix was created as an alternative to the song’s more commercially successful original version. And I thought this was a fantastic concept. The original mix was a huge success in Germany, and the 2Faces remix quickly found its way into the record collections of some of the most influential DJs and producers in the industry, such as Paul van Dyk and DJ Tiesto.
In addition to the “Kindervater Sternenweg 5” remix by 2Faces, which has received an equal amount of dj spins on a worldwide scale, another remix for Paul van Dyk’s Vandit Rec. will be released in the coming days (Kuffdam&Plant Dreammakers). DJ Shog is the alias of a man who is actively involved in and leading a number of other enterprises. He collaborated with the E-Cutz crew to produce three anthems for Nature One, which is the largest open-air dance event in Germany (Summer Sound System 2002, Alive&Kickin 2003 and The Golden 10 2004).
In addition to his other responsibilities, he is the person in charge of the recently initiated initiative known as “Dream Dance Alliance,” which will be responsible for producing the anthems for the most successful and experienced Dream Dance compilations. Already well established as bona fide dance anthems were the debut singles “Bells of Heaven” and “Ayers Rock.”
As a result of the work that he has done for DJ Sammy, Cappella, CJ Stone, Three Drives, AYU, DJ Tatana, Ian van Dahl, Lasgo, Ernesto vs. Bastian, and Filo&Peri, DJ Shog is also in high demand as a remixer. This has allowed him to become an established member of the dance-scene. But the innumerable performances he played at major events and festivals such as Nature One, Streetparade, Love Parade, G-Move, Energy, Nautilus, Goliath, MDR Sputnik Turntabledays, and Airbeat One are what actually propelled him to the forefront of the scene. It was there that DJ Shog established himself as a true international standard. There, he had established the foundation for his global network. Because of this, he is now perpetually traveling in order to share his music with people in different parts of the world.
